General Info & Tips

This site is dedicated to all tourists departing from Civitavecchia to visit Rome in a short time.

To do this, our suggestion is to travel by train from Civitavecchia. Here in some points it is possible to purchase the BIRG integrated ticket (€12.00)  includes regional train FL5 (round trips in one day, run every 20 to 30 minutes) + unlimited travel on public transportation in Rome (local buses, trams, and metro) for an easy, not expensive and quick travel. Ticket is valid until midnight on the day. Make sure you validate your ticket at the beginning of your journey.

From Civitavecchia train station, the regional train to Rome arrives at these stations in the city of Rome, these are the stations we have chosen for our recommended routes:

  • the first train station is Roma San Pietro (in 60′):  this station is 15′ walking distance from the Vatican
  • then another train station Roma Ostiense (in 72′): very close to Piramide station on metro line B and perfect for visiting the Colosseum and the Roman Forum area
  • lastly the main train station Roma Termini (in 82′)

Travel times indicated do not consider the time you need to get the Civitavecchia train station from the port. This trip from the port to the Civitavecchia train station is around 20′ walk or, otherwise there are public bus services and Portlink bus service.

We are not responsible for trains/buses/metro disruptions due to strikes, breakdowns etc..
